Poll: Georgia voters reluctant to change state constitution; Presidential race tied among early voters

Today, Better Georgia released the results of a stateside survey of likely voters for key races and the Amendment 1 constitutional ballot question, which would allow the state government to create charter schools over the objection of locally elected school boards. The results show that despite millions of dollars spent by out-of-state corporations in support of the amendment, only 52 percent of respondents were certain to vote yes even when presented with only the misleading ballot

Sen. Don Balfour, Georgia’s most corrupt legislator

State Sen. Don Balfour, the senate’s Rules Chairman, is on the hot seat for his multiple ethical lapses during his career. Better Georgia launched a new television ad, airing in his senate district through election day, to call attention to Georgia’s most corrupt legislator: Sunlight is the best disinfectant, so we’re making sure voters know about Sen. Balfour’s ethical lapses. Sen. Balfour continues to enjoy great power in the Senate as the unethical behavior continues and he refuses

DeKalb-Gwinnett candidate makes worst political attack ad

DeKalb-Gwinnett candidate Chris Boedeker released a hilariously bad political attack ad. His goal was to unseat the incumbent State Rep. Scott Holcomb. But the ad fell miserably short. Instead, Boedeker’s political attack ad shamefully mocked the military service of Rep. Holcomb. Rep. Holcomb served 12 years in the U.S. Army, including three years with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart and three overseas deployments in support of the operations in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. This ad, a complete lie,

State Rep. Buzz Brockway published a campaign attack ad from GOP candidate Chris Boedeker that shamefully mocked the military service of Rep. Scott Holcomb and falsely accused him of “using illegal drugs while in the service.” Although the Boedeker campaign quietly removed the video without the hint of an apology, we’re publishing it here so Georgia voters can understand how far the ad went. Late last night, State Rep. Buzz Brockway published a campaign attack ad from GOP candidate Chris Boedeker that falsely accused State Rep. Scott Holcomb of “using illegal drugs while in the service.” But beyond that laughably false and legally irresponsible accusation, the ad reveals what Rep. Brockway and Boedeker really think about U.S. military service. They think military service is fair game for political attacks. Boedeker’s attack ad attempted to paint Rep. Holcomb’s honest acknowledgement of his

Georgia voters oppose Romney-Ryan Medicare vouchers

Better Georgia just completed a statewide survey of voters. We’ve learned that President Obama’s support in Georgia remains just about the same as it did in 2008. The President’s support in Georgia has not gone over a cliff as conservative pundits would have you believe. In the poll, we learned that Republican Mitt Romney holds a narrow edge over President Obama, 49 percent to 46 percent among likely voters. Among registered voters, the race is
