Karen Handel doubles down on anti-gay adoption views

Karen Handel, the Republican candidate who is trailing Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District race, has doubled down on her deep-seated beliefs that gay people should not be allowed to adopt children.

When asked by a Republican voter about the 2010 video of Handel citing her faith as the reason she believes that gay parents do not deserve the same rights as straight parents, the 6th Congressional District candidate simply said, “my faith calls me to a very different place on these issues.”

Most Americans would expect that even a right-wing politician’s views on gay rights would have progressed since 2010. Clearly, this is not the case for Karen Handel. Here’s what she said in 2010 — not too different from what she believes today.
