The balloons have dropped, the speeches are over and the Democrats have finished their convention on a high note.
Reviews from partisans, pundits and focus groups of Independents show that Democrats presented a successful argument to American voters and will begin the last 100 days in a strong position.
Hillary Clinton for the White House
It’s official. Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for President.
Secretary Clinton rose to the moment with a homespun speech that crystallized the essence of who she is without trying to be something she’s not.
Two lines sum up what Secretary Clinton accomplished last night:
“No wonder (Trump) doesn’t like talking about his plans,” she said after running through a list of issues Trump left out of his convention. “You might have noticed, I love talking about mine.”
Using optimism and patriotism, Secretary Clinton took down Trump by drawing stark contrasts on character and policy.
‘You have sacrificed nothing and no one.’
One of the most moving moments of the entire convention was the short speech given by the parents of Capt. Humayun Khan, a U.S. Army soldier who was killed while on duty in Iraq. Capt. Khan ordered his troops to stand back as he investigated a suspicious vehicle. He took 10 steps forward and then a bomb exploded.
Capt. Khan’s father, Khizr M. Khan, introduced himself and his wife as “patriotic American Muslims with undivided loyalty to our country.”
And then he methodically dismantled Donald Trump.
Donald Trump, you are asking Americans to trust you with our future. Let me ask you: Have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy. In this document, look for the words “liberty” and “equal protection of law.”
The entire speech was emotional and is worth your attention if you missed it.
