Georgia’s rural hospital crisis could soon get much, much worse.
The Supreme Court, in the King v. Burwell case, will soon decide whether millions of people in 34 states, including 412,000 here in Georgia, will lose premium tax credits they rely on to make health insurance affordable. Without those tax credits, most of the people affected would be unable to buy insurance and would become uninsured.
Below is a chart to show how many Georgians are at risk of losing premium tax credits statewide and by congressional district. Congressman Rob Woodall’s district is most at risk with 48,000 people who receive premium tax credits.
