Don’t be fooled: The cannabis oil bill that Gov. Deal signed is nothing more than a PR stunt. While the law technically makes it legal to possess a small amount of low-THC oil in Georgia, there’s one enormous problem with the law that renders it completely useless:
It is still illegal to cultivate, manufacture or sell medical marijuana in Georgia, so families have no way to legally obtain the medicine.
In order for someone to actually get cannabis oil into the state, they would have to break federal and state laws by illegally transporting it across state lines. In effect, Gov. Deal’s new law would turn Georgians who desperately need treatment for themselves or their loved ones into drug smugglers.
The governor’s new law is a Trojan horse. It’s a way to pacify the public into silence while Georgia families continue to suffer without real solutions. We can’t let him get away with it.
Too many Georgians think the battle is over, so it’s up to us to tell the truth and fight back against the governor’s PR machine.
Make sure that every Georgian knows that until families can legally obtain and use the medicine they need, the medical marijuana battle is far from over.
WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW: Share the petition for REAL medical marijuana reform. Tell all of your friends, family members, neighbors and co-workers that medical marijuana is still illegal in Georgia, and demand action now.
