No one should be able to use “deeply held religious beliefs” as an excuse for discrimination, abuse or other criminal behavior.
But that’s exactly what Sen. Josh McKoon and Rep. Sam Teasley would allow with their so-called “religious freedom” bills.
Radical conservatives from around the country are rallying around this legislation in Georgia, which would allow people to use religion as a defense for discrimination, child abuse or spousal abuse.
We need your action right now to make sure Georgia businesses continue to stand up for equality.
Tell Georgia-based businesses AT&T, Coca-Cola, Delta, Home Depot, Intercontinental Hotels and UPS to issue public statements denouncing the discriminatory bills being re-introduced by Georgia lawmakers this year.
This extremist legislation would harm women, children, members of the LGBT community and people of all faiths.
Last year, conservative lawmakers introduced similar, hateful legislation. But fortunately, Georgia’s business community stepped up and spoke out for the rights of all citizens, effectively stopping the legislation in its tracks.
Together, we can once again stop these backwards laws from taking effect. But you must take action now.
