Georgia’s conservative lawmakers think it would be good policy to force welfare recipients to take a drug test before receiving government money. It’s not. And for a lot of reasons.
Fortunately, Florida provides a clear example of what’s wrong with bill. Georgia doesn’t need to follow in our southern neighbor’s misguided footsteps.
In attempt to explain why the law isn’t sound policy, we first looked to Georgia’s newspapers. Sadly, there are no reports on why the drug tests are misguided. Instead, we will turn to The Daily Show which explains the downside of the policy better than our local papers. Take a few minutes now to better understand the absurdity of this bill:
