Jeremy Spencer used to work for Georgia’s Department of Education. But after racially charged Facebook posts he made came to light, Better Georgia supporters put pressure on the state superintendent to fire him and it worked. In 2016, it came to light that Spencer held some extremely bigoted beliefs. Because of your action, Superintendent Richard Woods backed off of his original statement that it would take two weeks to investigate. Instead, he did the right thing by taking swift action and letting Georgians know that hate speech will not be tolerated.

Vile, racist and bigoted Facebook posts from a top Georgia Department of Education official go so far past the line of acceptable it’s almost hard to believe. Unfortunately, in a time when Donald Trump is surging in the Republican primary, many conservatives believe they can speak without consequences.

Better Georgia hopes this instance leads to the toughest possible consequence: Jeremy Spencer needs to hear his boss say, “You’re Fired!”
