Ga. conservatives continue to stall medical marijuana

Don’t be fooled — conservative politicians don’t want legal medical marijuana in Georgia. Their calls for Congress to “get off their duffs” and reclassify marijuana are completely disingenuous. As further proof of their unwillingness to join the 29 U.S. states and D.C. that have legalized medical marijuana, a new proposed bill that would add chronic pain and PTSD to illnesses covered by medical marijuana passed the House a month ago, but hasn’t received a Senate hearing.

Sen. David Shafer accused of sexual harassment in the courtroom

Another Ga. Republican lawmaker is being sued for sexual harassment in the courtroom. Sen. David Shafer, who is also a leading Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, is referring to the accusation that he sexually harassed a veteran lobbyist as “politics, not the truth.” The lobbyist making the accusation, a 20-year Capitol veteran, said Shafer retaliated against her after she rejected his advances and harassed her after helping her get a bill passed in 2011. Cagle’s tax cuts for wealthy, those who don’t question the NRA

It’s been a busy week for Ga. Republicans at the Capitol. Lt. Gov. Cagle started this week by slamming Delta Airlines, Georgia’s biggest employer, for ending discounts for NRA members. He decided to punish the airline by striking a provision that would have given Delta a $50 million dollar tax break on jet fuel.
