Georgia still failing to address mental illness

Again, AGAIN, Georgia is found to be failing to meet its commitments to Georgians dealing with developmental disabilities or serious mental illness. In particular, Georgia has been called to task for failing to provide adequate community housing, and failing to ensure proper transitions for individuals leaving hospitals and other institutionalized settings. Disabled Georgians Deserve Better

Georgia and the federal government have a few spats going on right now. We’ve already watched as leaders stepped in to defend transphobia, and refused Medicaid expansion, a common-sense economic development proposal. Unfortunately, these aren’t the only areas in which Georgia is showing a blatant disregard for the well-being of some of its citizens.
