Kemp slams immigration on bus tour

As part of his gubernatorial campaign’s bus tour, Sec. of State Brian Kemp gave a talk inside of what was once a jail cell advocating a crackdown on immigration. As has become typical of the Republican rhetoric on immigration, his speech was full of hateful, confusing half-truths. The crux of his talk was about how undocumented immigrants are driving up the cost of heathcare. He said it was “insane” that undocumented immigrants get healthcare coverage

More attacks from the Trump administration, but immigrant communities resist

DACA recipients aren’t the only group of immigrants being targeted by the Trump administration, but immigrants and human rights groups are organizing their communities and pushing back against these dangerous policies. Many folks have been turning their attention to the fate of young people, called DREAMers, who benefited from former president Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Isakson: Congress should support Dreamers

Isakson is on the right side of an issue for a change: he believes that “Dreamers” should be allowed to stay in the U.S. However, he’s been all over the place with immigration issues in the past, how do we know that he isn’t supporting Dreamers now, only to vote against them staying in the future? Trump threatens DACA, thousands of lives on the line

Media reports are swirling that Trump will end DACA, threatening the ability of hundreds of thousands of young people to pursue higher education and obtain employment. As the Trump administration continues to ingratiate itself with white supremacists, it may be up to Congress to uphold the very low bar that this country not actively promote a white supremacist agenda. Are Congressional Republicans up for the task? DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is a

Rep. Earl Ehrhart at it again — this time targeting Emory

Emory University is considering becoming a sanctuary campus for undocumented students, and the mere possibility has riled Rep. Earl Ehrhart. The Powder Springs conservative is no stranger to bullying, and once again may use his position as a state legislator to target a specific university over specific policies he disagrees with. “There’s a raft of state taxpayer dollars for private institutions,” Ehrhart told the AJC, “and I’m very sanguine about being able to pass a
