Thoughts from the ATL Airport Protest

Only a week after the historic Women’s Marches nationwide, including a 60,000-strong gathering in downtown Atlanta, protesters were out in force once again rallying against President Trump’s immigration ban. I went to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to join in the protest and broadcast the event live for Better Georgia. I had a chance to speak with several of the protesters at the rally, which was was said to swell past 5,000 at its peak. One protester

DNC increasing efforts to turn GA blue

The Democratic National Committee is launching a new program, the Victory Leaders Council, which is designed to “flip states to Democrats” and lead volunteers and grassroots campaigning. Georgia, along with Arizona and Utah, has been selected as a launching ground for the VLC. The DNC’s southern political director, Ron Allen, will relocate to Georgia this week and will stay in Georgia through the presidential election. Allen also worked on Obama’s 2008 campaign in Georgia. Is Trump’s rhetoric fueling Latino voter surge in Ga.?

Are Latinos the next major voting bloc in Georgia? Thanks to Donald Trump, they might be. A front-page story in today’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution highlights the surge of new Latino voter registrations in the last few months. And with the tone of the presidential race this year, it’s not hard to guess

Gov. Deal stands by Donald Trump

Yesterday, as conservative leaders across the country denounced Donald Trump’s comments about Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s Mexican heritage as racist, Trump dug in deeper, telling his critics to “get over it.” Apparently, that’s exactly what Gov. Nathan Deal has done. Gov. Nathan Deal and Sen. David Perdue made news yesterday by announcing their plans to host a fundraiser  in Georgia next week for the increasingly toxic megalomaniac. By the end of the day, even Sen. Perdue, an

Let Trump be Trump

It’s a presidential year, and like every other presidential year, Republicans are once again consolidating support behind the presumptive nominee. There’s nothing unusual about that. What is unusual is the nominee: Donald Trump, the real estate mogul and reality TV star who barreled his way through the primary like he had nothing to lose. After the initial shock had worn off, Republicans began settling in to this new normal, doing the only thing they thought

Trump and his tax returns

As if we needed more proof that he’s not qualified to be president, Donald Trump is now refusing to release his tax returns. Really. Trump gave plenty of excuses for keeping a lid on his financial documents, but his most shocking reason was that he doesn’t think voters care about them. Really. Let’s be honest: there may be no other tax return in the history of the world that voters care about more than Donald
