The NRA will be coming to Georgia to peddle their poison later this month, but they will get a surprise from activists unwilling to be silenced by the extremist group in the face of rampant deaths due to gun violence.
On April 28 at Woodruff Park in Atlanta, Georgia Alliance for Social Justice along with partner organizations (including Better Georgia) will be hosting a #DisArmHate “die-in” downtown to counter the NRA’s National Leadership Meeting scheduled for the weekend.
Georgia has a needlessly high rate of gun violence. From 2001-2010 more than twice as many people in Georgia were killed by guns than were killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. In this state, someone dies of gun violence every seven hours, totaling more than 1,200 families a year devastated by gun violence.
The group will be highlighting the need for common sense gun laws instead of the extremism pushed by the NRA. They are calling on folks to resist the NRA-Trump agenda and join them for a die-in highlighting the epidemic of gun violence in this state and in this country.
The NRA has recently appointed themselves the defenders of Trump, launching a new ad campaign that puts the organization as the leaders of the “counter resistance.”
“Donald Trump will need every ounce of energy we can muster, and he has no more powerful ally than the NRA,” Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the NRA, saying during the one minute ad.

The NRA has aligned themselves with a Trump administration that embodies extremism and hate with every new executive order, appointment and press conference. #DisArmHate calls for folks to resist the NRA-Trump agenda and join them Friday, April 28 at 11:30am for a die-in at Woodruff Park in Atlanta.
