Jon Ossoff is still pulling ahead of his Republican rivals as early voting for the 6th District continues, and Democrats are still outnumbering Republicans in early voting for the April 18 Special Election.
While support for Ossoff mounts, the cracks are showing in Republican groups. A radio station had to edit a lie out of an NRA ad attacking Ossoff. The ad claimed Ossoff grew up in Washington D.C, when he grew up right here in the 6th District of Georgia.
Ossoff has Republicans so unnerved, they’re turning to blatant lies to try to take him down.
Other groups and the national Republican Party are spending millions to paint Ossoff as a candidate out to steal Georgian’s freedom with dark ties to anarchists and the Middle East in order to scare voters.
“Predictable, cynical, partisan, negative politics, with a whiff of desperation,” Ossoff said about the attacks.
Why are Republicans so scared and desperate?
“The atmosphere in Georgia is electric right now,” Ossoff said in a short interview at his parents’ home. “Thousands of folks, many of whom have never been engaged in politics before, working together to make the statement that we think the country can only become stronger and more prosperous and more secure if we stick to our core values.”
Ossoff is dominating the race, but there’s still time left in the election. If Ossoff can’t pull in 50 percent of the votes plus one, then he will have to face off with a Republican rival. This could create a challenge, as rattled Republicans may try to unite under a conservative candidate.
