“Republicans are unnerved”
As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, “Republicans are unnerved by the swirl of attention surrounding [Jon] Ossoff, a 30-year-old documentary filmmaker who has the support of Reps. John Lewis and Hank Johnson.”
The reason Republicans are unnerved is because the April 18 special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District is the first Congressional race in the nation since Donald Trump was elected president. And in this traditionally red district, Trump barely beat Hillary Clinton by a single percentage point.
Trump’s DC Republicans are also unnerved by Ossoff because he has raised more than $2 million from progressives in order to hold Trump accountable.
A super PAC from the D.C. swamp released an attack ad accusing progressive 6th Congressional District candidate Jon Ossoff of essentially being a college student while he was actually a college student. The silly “attack” ad also accused Ossoff of singing with fellow classmates and playing Han Solo in a college video.
Progressives should welcome any ad that compares Ossoff to one of the world’s most beloved heroes of all time.
AJC: Jon Ossoff backers embrace ‘Star Wars’ attack ad
As you can imagine, the attack ad landed with a thud in social media. Folks across the country began commenting that the attack ad had actually inspired them to donate to Ossoff’s campaign. I mean, we all love Han Solo and Star Wars, right? And Georgia wants to send a Congressman to D.C. who will fight for women and hold Donald Trump accountable.
The same day the ad was released, The Washington Post called it “one of the dumbest attack ads you will ever see.”
We agree, so we launched this response video the next day:
Thousands of people have watched Better Georgia’s Ossoff video online and it’s been picked up by major outlets like Daily Kos, The Hill, The AJC and Roll Call.
It’s been reported that the D.C. SuperPAC is pouring more than $1 million into their failed ad campaign against Ossoff. Our response? Keep ads like this one coming!
