Brian Kemp has done it again

October 7, 2016 By Better Georgia Staff 6 Comments

America’s worst Secretary of State Brian Kemp has done it again. In the past year, Kemp has released 6.1 million social security numbers, allowed voters to vote in the wrong district, issued the wrong ballots in the primary election, and perpetuated the targeting and disenfranchisement minority voters.

On the second-to-last-weekend before the voter registration deadline, Kemp’s lack of oversight has prevented an unknown number of potential voters to register. In a statement made yesterday, Kemp’s office blamed the issue on a technology provider.

FILE - In this Sept. 29, 2014 file photo, Secretary of State Brian Kemp announces a March 6, 2012 date, as Georgia's 2012 presidential primary at a news conference in Atlanta. On the gridiron, it takes a team to win, and some elected officials around the South are looking to band together rather than brawl over the 2016 presidential primaries. Kemp is among those pushing a regional March 1, 2016 contest known as the “SEC Primary,” named after the Southeastern Conference and would include such Southern states as Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi and possibly Alabama and Louisiana as well. The issue occurred as the result of the website’s failing to update. However, if Kemp was doing his job correctly he would’ve postponed the update by two weeks (the registration cut off) or merely checked to make sure it was working after the update.

Instead of taking responsibility and notifying as many people as possible that they may not be registered to vote in the upcoming election, Kemp blamed those working under his authority and limited publication of the issue to a small news item buried on the SOS website. Now an unknown number of Georgians have no idea that they may not be registered to vote.

Any one of his actions may have been a careless mistake, however the overwhelming number of problems he’s caused for Georgia voters point directly to corruption and fraud. If someone was as particularly “mistake-ridden” as he appears to be and cared about the carrying out of democracy, they would at least accept help.

But in the wake of all his failures, Kemp is refusing election help and continuing to come between Georgia and a fair election.

I’m probably one of those thousands. I’ve been voting for years and recently relocated to another GA county. I’ve tried to update my voting status twice and as of two weeks ago, I was not registered in my new district.

I feel you. I moved recently too and have been registered since 1994. It took eight tries to get a change of address approved. Eight! I am glad I was persistent, but this was just ridiculous.

Kemp’s office blamed the issue on a technology provides, really just go ahead and put an white sheet over this man head and allow him to walk around with it. As long as he’s in office the voting system is a joke that ‘s how it is and been in this state a big JOKE as far as he been in office his job is to target and disenfranchisement minority voters.
